The North Side of Indianapolis has some great places to shop, and they’re easy to get to from Carmel. With three major malls close by, and a variety of furniture and specialty retail shops, residents have lots of choices. The Fashion Mall [Link] The Fashion Mall at Keystone at the Crossing is a very popular destination, and it’s located just a short drive from downtown Carmel. With Saks Fifth Avenue as its primary anchor store and coming in 2008, Nordstroms, it features some 95 specialty stores and restaurants. Some popular restaurants include The Cheesecake Factory, P.F. Chang's China Bistro, Maggiano's, and Sullivan's Steakhouse. Castleton Square Mall [Link] Just a couple of miles down the road is Indiana’s largest mall, the Castleton Square Mall, which features several large department store anchors including Macy’s, Sears, Von Maur and JC Penney, as well as 130 specialty stores. Clay Terrace [Link] Carmel has some great shopping of its own. One popular destination is the new Clay Terrace Mall. Clay Terrace is an open air mall, which features over 70 shops and restaurants, easy to navigate round-a-bouts, and attractive architecture, consistent with Carmel’s more traditional theme. It’s popular restaurants include Kona Grill, Mitchell’s Fish Market, Kincaid’s Fish Chop & Steak House, Paradise Bakery, and Ted’s Montana Grill. Alternative Shopping If your not into the mall scene you should check out the galleries and boutiques in the Carmel Arts & Design District, or travel South on US-31 a few miles and check out the eclectic shops and boutiques in the Broad Ripple area of Indianapolis. Circle Centre Mall [Link] Don’t forget about downtown Indy when it comes to shopping. The downtown area is not that far, particularly if you’re in the mood. The Circle Center Mall is downtown Indy’s premiere shopping site, and home to 100 shops and several fine restaurants. Its anchor stores are Nordstroms and Parisian, and it also hosts a movie theater. Circle Center dining includes local favorites like the Alcatraz Brewery, Bertolinis Authentic Trattoria, Champps, the Palomino, and Ruth’s Chris Steak House. Also while you’re there check out the seven-story-tall, glass enclosed Artsgarden, which offers a spectacular view of the city. The facility is owned and operated by the Arts Council of Indianapolis, and hosts countless performers throughout the year. Edinburgh Premium Outlets Finally, if you’re a hard core shopper looking for big bargains, then you might want to consider the Edinburgh Outlet Mall, which is about 50 miles south of downtown Carmel. With lots of name brand outlets, and big savings, Edinburgh is a another popular shopping destination for Carmel residents. Are You Moving to Carmel?
